Primary school France Prešeren Kranj
Osnovna šola Franceta Prešerna Kranj Franceta Prešerna Primary school is situated at Zlato polje in Kranj in socially low-class environment. Kranj is the capital of the Gorenjska and the fourth largest town in Slovenia. Old part of the town is like a peninsula above the rivers Kokra and Sava. Kranj is a very important Slovenian trade centre. The pupils come from financially not very stable families. Many parents are unemployed. A 30 % of the pupils are children of different nationality (Serbian, Croatian, Albanian, Bosnian) In 45 years the school has proved successful in many fields. Several different activities let every pupil have a chance to get on the fields of their interests. In our opinion the pupils should obtain also new knowledge and skills, speak foreign languages and seek for some new way of solving problems. This can be obtained by meeting new cultures and learning about different working methods and thus the pupils can come across new ideas. We can reach these by connecting schools in Comenius Projects. After visiting Latina our teacher Elvira said:
In October 2015, we visited Italy while being a part of a WLN- NLU project. For five days, we stayed in Latina, small but beautiful Italian seaside village. The Italian teachers, students and their parents were very hospitable. They took us all over the Latina, they organised trip to famous Rome and Vatikan, and they also showed us a georgeous village Sperlonga. We visited Kindergarten, school, Municipality. During our five days stay we had a great chance for tasting and smelling real Italy. Every day we could try some other Italian speciality and we were a part of their private lives also. The principal invited us to her home and it was a great evening. We walked a lot, spent time together with other friends from Polland and Turkey and thats what values the most. New experiences, knowledge and last, but not least, lots of new friends. I am vey glad that I had a chance for being a part of this project. Articles from local newspaper
